Canberra Has Cattitude

That is right I said cattitude. When I go to Colorado I feel like I am not only visiting people but I am visiting dogs too, lots and lots of dogs. Well in Canberra it is all about the cats. James and I are currently house sitting for his Mum and we are more importantly watching the cats, or as my Dad would say, "tending the livestock." Like all of the dogs in Colorado, these cats are more spoiled than most of the children that the owners raised themselves. They get prawns and meat, and cat food. They also get lots and lots of snuggles.

This is Matilda, and she has the most cattitude out of the two cats, very aloof, she only wants attention when she wants it.

This is Louis, not the best picture as it was taken through a window, but even with the poor quality you can see what a lazy sack he is. Louis likes lots and lots of attention, he lets you know with head butts, and meowing...such a whiner. His main cue however, is he will just literally be walking along and fall over, and that signals he wants his belly rubbed. If you don't get it from that hint, he will stretch so long that he literally curves backwards, and then you have to rub his belly.

Well I better go attend to the cattitudes.

Shhhhhh We Have To Be Very Very Quiet...

We are hunting wabbits.... Well maybe not, but we did go kangaroo stalking today, which I think was much more fun and it did indeed require being very very quiet when approaching them. They took me to Namadgi Park just outside of Canberra. There we took a short walk across the Australian plains in a nice little valley. Then suddenly....there were Kangaroos!!!! I looked under a tree to my right and there were kagaroos! I looked to my left under a tree and there were kangaroos! I looked out onto the horizon and there were kanagroos bouncing through the scenery. If you don't catch my drift, there were a whole lot of kanagroos everywhere I looked, and it was in the wild, and they were everywhere, and it was really exciting! There were little ones and big ones, and lazy ones, and hopping ones, and they all like to hang out under the shade of trees, see see see!

Who could blame me, I could not pass up a photo op with kanagroos. These were quite close and we had to approach them slowly, I was excited but very nervous. I was reassured that they would not hurt me. These were grey kangaroos and apparently, only the reds are the really agressive ones, and they only live in the desert outback of Australia in order to blend in with all of the red, hence their name...reds.

As we got even closer they seemed a bit curious, and especially the little joeys kept trying to come over and see us. The older kangaroos had to swat the little ones in order to stave off their curiosity and keep them from approaching us.

After the kanagroos we went and had a nice little picnic at the site of the old Orroral SLR Observatory. The buildings and the satellite are no longer there but this site used to help the United States track satellites once they were out of range for the U.S. Overall, it was a very nice and exciting day, and I passed out cold in the car from all fo the excitement.

I Have Bad News and Good News...

Do you want the good news or the bad news first? From what I understand of social protocol it is usually common practice for the choice to be bad news first and good news second. I suppose that is in the case that you are an optimist. I suppose if you were a pessimist or a glass half empty type you might want the bad news second. Anyways I shall go with the bad news first, good news second to end on a happy note.

My camera broke :(

Good News:
I got a super cool new one. It is a Panasonic and it has a 8x optical zoom. You can expect to see lots of new pictures from me :) :) Oh yeah and it is supposed to shoot very good quality videos so maybe I will even have to try this YouTube thingy out.
